Leading the kids to graduation

You can learn quite a lot about what Korea is like just by sitting through ten minutes of a graduation ceremony. The kids are incredible and I can't wait for the new round of enrollments coming my way. Although, I will say, this seems to be a presentation culture... One teacher referred to it as a big dog and pony show. One thing is for certain... Education is serious here.

 I sat through Greg Teacher's (In Korea, you call teachers by their first name followed by "Teacher") classes the day before and it took a huge weight off my shoulders. Walking into this country, this was the only thing on my mind: How the fuck do I teach kids?

They saw the camera -- "Take a picture!"

I mean, I had an input through CELTA that addressed this specific thing. I read books about building a physical and an emotional milieu. I was ready. But like a bank manager telling you to just push the silent alarm, you won't know how to react until the gun is pointed at you... Teaching kids.

Back to Greg Teacher -- The reason why it became so much easier is because I realized the kids don't actually know you're screwing up. They laugh at everything. And I'll laugh all the way to bank.

Let's do this right...

Okay... So the last time I posted was about three years ago. I probably got lazy... life probably got in the way...

I got lazy.

Hopefully (a very strong "hopefully"), that will change.

For those of you who don't know, I'm in South Korea right now... I flew in on the 20th of February -- totally jetlagged -- worried as fuck that I was walking into some sort of death trap. At the airport, a driver picked me up, asked me if I smoke, drove 150km/hour and eventually dumped up my stuff in front of the school.







The first three pictures are of a fancy hotel I'm staying in. I woke up at around 3am and couldn't go back to sleep. I haven't put the pictures of the view from the window but there's a great night shot I'm trying to capture. I'll put them side by side... it'll be awesome :)

 The first one of me is called "What have I done?" The out-of-focus-ness signifies my inability to take a decent photo of myself.

Okay, skip two days later -- I'm kind of drunk with a bad Gil Gunderson comb over because it turns out my boss can hold her liquor...

Today, the 23rd, is the graduation for the kids at the academy...

As you can see, blogspot has changed since I last used it. I have some learning to do...

I keep saying the same thing over and over and at this point have no excuses... other than school, work or lack of work, life, butterflies, the man, two-trick ponies, and inter-dimensional serial killers...

But that's it...

Anyway, I have been trying to find work out there but it's been far and few in between... much like these posts (Hey-oh!). I hope people still read this and know that 'YES, I AM CAPABLE OF THE WORK!' and maybe one day... I'll actually have a website or something close to what I actually want to do... Whatever comes first.

I have some more headshots... I figure it's what I've been working on so I'll show that to you.
