Room of Your Own

It's been about a month since I've started here and I really hope I have my classes down pat. Everything seems to be going well so far. In light of making it through my month somewhat unscathed, I thought I would introduce to you some of the students I teach.

I teach two kindergarten classes. In the early morning, I teach "Koalas" (The classes are named after cute animals. Later in the day, the class names are a little more bad ass), and in the later morning, I teach "Rabbits" (The three kids above). The kids in both of these classes have no English experience so talking to them is a little tough, but after a month, they're starting to understand everything I'm saying. Fascinating stuff :)

Once the morning is done, we go into the afternoon classes which houses older elementary school students. So my typical day is four kindergarten classes and seven periods of older students.

Below are two classes at the end of my day.

It's the one on the left...

Sometimes the tourist-y thing to do is the best thing to do after a night of fun and frivolity.

Why not go visit a palace? I still can't, for the life of me, remember the name of the palace off the top of my head so the ticket above should do the trick.

Watching people watching me taking a picture of me watching them as they watch me.

The Boys...

Moi.
The three pictures that you see here are of our Chinese zodiac animals. Mine is the Ox. Mike and Brian are the Dragon.

The animals are laid out, sort of like... Stone Henge? Really cool stuff.

On the Way to Market...

Noryangjin Fish Market has got to be one of the most interesting things I've seen here. Toronto has it's own but nothing that is as big as this.

If you haven't flipped through the photos yet, you'll see that the photographs vary quite a bit.

I decided to bring my DSLR and my little point and shoot. I figure: Find the shots and take as many as you can.

This.

Oh right! I should tell you. The gentleman to my right is Ariel. An Aussie also working as an ESL teacher here in Seoul. Not with us but I'm sure the story of how we all met is good for another day. Moving on...

The 63 Building on the far right...

Typically, what happens at the fish market is you walk through the aisles deciding what fish you want to buy. Every vendor has their own booth... Sort of like a flea market. Once you get the fish you want, you take it upstairs to a restaurant where the fish is cooked for you...

Here in this picture, I'm eating a live octopus. There are a few videos of this meal and the team fighting to rip the octopus from the plate but I'll save that for a video only edition.

St. Patrick's Day - Part Two

It's not a party until you find a beer in a bathroom stall...

I've managed to get the rest of the pictures from St. Patrick's Day. So...
